HALF OR FULL DAY TOURS
1. Soweto
The home of over two million people. Here
we enjoy the African culture at its best.
Seeing the Hector Petersen memorial, Hector being one of the first casualties
of the 1976 Soweto riots. Regina Mundi church the infamous church the police
raided in an attempt to foil a so called plot. The homes of Madiba (Nelson Mandela)
and Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu. These houses are the on the same street, the only
street to have the two Nobel peace prize winners and Freedom Square. There is
Chris Hani Baragwaneth Hospital, the ever busy taxi rank as well as sports venues
and the chance to visit the informal settlement and mix with the indigenous people. |

2. Apartheid Museum
The first of its kind, illustrates the rise and
fall of apartheid. The racially produced system
that blighted much of its progress and the triumph
of reason which crowned half a decade of struggle.
The name speaks for itself, see first hand the
political system that divided the people for decade.
3. Lesedi Cultural Village
The
Lesedi Cultural Village is a living monument is
a living monument of South Africa’s rich
ethnic heritage. In a bush setting just outside
bustling Johannesburg, the colorful traditions
of Africa’s aboriginal people, the Basotho,
Ndebele, Pedi, Xhosa and Zulus are preserved and
practiced. Enjoy exhibitions of tribal dancing
and explore the African cuisine with a feast of
traditional dishes at the Nyama Choma restaurant.
4. Sun City
Experience this world renowned pleasure resort,
as you discover nature’s bounty while

5 Pilanesberg National Park
In malaria –free
area nearby enough to a Johannesburg for a
day visit, the Pilanesberg offers the opportunity

You will drive through this pre-historic volcanic
crater to game-sport, enjoy lunch at a four
star lodge overlooking the game reserve, then
make an optional visit to the world renowned
fantasy casino and playground resort, Sun City,
or remain in the reserve. |

6. Pretoria/ Tswane City
Our tour of South Africa’s administrative
capital will expose you to the natural beauty
of the Jacaranda City, so named for its thousands
of purple-flowering trees. The city is a rich
tapestry of living history reflecting the country’s
emergence from colonialism. The Voortrekker
Monument, Church Square, The Union Buildings,
The Transvaal Museum and the Pretoria Train
Station are some of the sites that can be visited
on this tour. |

7. Tsonga Cultural Village
Tsonga tribe is
one of the four Nguni groups inhabiting the
Limpopo Province in the North. Enjoy the four
hour drive from Pretoria or Johannesburg International
Airport and observe the sparcely populated
landscape characterized by lone wild animals
and natural vegetation. See the colorfully
dressed Shangaan women and the thatched roof
rondavels. |

8. The Transvaal Museum – Paul
Kruger Street
The
museum was established in 1892 and is renowned
for its exhibits of prehistory and natural
history. Included is the Austin Roberts Bird
Hall, a model on which to base all collections
of birds. This exhibition is definitive and
shows all examples of South African Avifauna.
Displayed at the entrance of the museum is
a log of a tree said to be 225 million years
old. Next to the entrance is the skeleton of
a Fin Whale and in the corner of the Garden
is a dinosaur.
Adjoining
the Transvaal Museum are splendid exhibits of
geology and mineralogy. The collection commences
with the solar system, the planets, earth and
its interior, the origins of different rocks,
precious and semi-precious stones. There is a
fossil collection and some of the geological
systems are explained by means of rocks and fossil
arranged on a time scale. |

9. George Harrison Park – Old Mine Workings
These old mine workings are the
place where the Main Reef and the Main Reef
Leader, discovered by George Harrison and George
Walker in March 1886 was mined. Here the gold
bearing conglomerates are made of several pebbly
layers separated by sandy layers. The Main
Reef is over 2 meters wide and is now tilted
30 degrees to the earth. A short distance to
the North, across what is now the Main Reef
Road was one of Johannesburg’s first
mining settlements. Soon after the discovery
of gold village called Pearl’s hoop was
established here by Pearl Syndicate, as the
first gold mine and exists as a suburb this
day. |
